LMI Naila Seminar & AQUEDUCT Project Highlights
The LMI Naila, a French-Tunisian joint research laboratory focused on water management in rural Tunisian areas, held its annual seminar in Hammamet, Tunisia, from
November 17 to 20, 2025.
During this event, the AQUEDUCT project was presented, showcasing the important role of LMI Naila in building scientific partnerships that have given rise to major initiatives such as the
Altos and PRIMA AQUEDUCT projects.
Key speakers, including Ghani Chebhouni (UM6P, Morocco) and Nicola Montaldo (University of Cagliari, Italy), shared insights on long-term Mediterranean collaborations and research networks that have evolved through LMI Naila.
Field Visit to CTA Experimental Station
A one-day field visit was organized, giving participants the opportunity to explore the CTA (Centre Technique des Agrumes – Citrus Technical Center) experimental station in Ben Khaled.
As a major partner of the AQUEDUCT project, the CTA’s station will contribute significantly to understanding water dynamics in intercropped orchards and to supporting the development of Citrig, an irrigation decision-support tool aimed at optimizing water use for farmers.
Strengthening Mediterranean Research Networks
The seminar reaffirmed the importance of nurturing long-term collaboration between Mediterranean partners to support innovative projects such as AQUEDUCT and strengthen cross-border scientific networks.
