AQUEDUCT Activity Structuration
The AQUEDUCT activities cover a three-year period and are structured into six interconnected workpackages. Two of these WP are fully cross-cutting: one focuses on leading and managing the project (WP0), the other (WP5) is dedicated to communication, dissemination and exploitation of the project outcomes for targeted users and audiences.

Field → Catchment
WP0 – Leading the Project
The specific objectives of WP0 are:
WP1 – Characterising, Understanding and Quantifying Water at the Field and Stand Scalet
WP1 aims at characterising, understanding and quantifying water availability and fluxes, in order to provide new water accounts and as well as to design and test innovative tools for water accounting.
WP1 addresses the local scale, namely at the crop field scale in irrigated and rainfed agrosystem and the vegetation stand scale in natural or semi-natural ecosystems.
WP1 comprises 2 main tasks.
Task 1.1: Providing water accounts under cultivated, natural and semi-natural vegetation covers at the field and stand scale
Task 1.2: Designing and testing new numerical and modelling approaches to account for water at the field and stand scale
WP2 – Designing, Testing and Implementing Integrated Accounting Tools
The specific objectives of WP0 are:
WP3 – Innovative water accounting under water shortage scenario: evaluation with stakeholders
Evaluation with stakeholders of innovative accounting under water shortage scenario.
• Identify, for every site, solutions of adaptation to various situations : water scarcity / water shortage / water stress.
Think / define various indicators: resource status, water uses, water sharing and use
efficiency.
• Test / analyse the added-values of new water accounts (WP4) provided by new tools (WP2) for the water and land-use governance.
WP3 comprises 4 main tasks.
Task 3.1: Designing and spatialising climate scenario
Task 3.2: Building scenario of land use, farming system and water resource management
Task 3.3: Identifying missing water accounts
Task 3.4: Analysing the relevance of new water accounts within water management decision processes and governance
WP4 – Accounting for water in typical Mediterranean catchments
The objective of WP4 is to implement and to run integrated tools for providing water accounts under the scenarios of land use, land cover and farming system,
The implementation of accounting tools for :
The agrosystems and ecosystems (WP1) and
The full integrated system (catchment) is performed,
Implementation : considering current situations, but also possible future solutions (regarding farming systems or vegetation cover) and future situations (water restriction, climate change) identified with stakeholders in WP3
WP4 comprises 2 main tasks.
Task 4.1: Converting narrative scenario to modelled scenario
Task 4.2: Water accounts for scenario based on simulations
WP5 – Disseminating
The objective of WP5 is to specify and implement the dissemination and exploitation strategy and plan. The WP5 ensures that results and outcomes effectively reach and to impact the targeted users and audiences
WP5 comprises 3 main tasks.
Task 5.1 Data managing and sharing
Task 5.2 Externally communicating
Task 5.3 Disseminating
